Valpolicella or “Valley with many cellars”, as some think is the meaning of the name. Perhaps not quite correct etymologically but certainly true in reality.
Our half-day or full-day wine tours will take you to discover the marvellous food and wine of this beautiful land: three valleys where the breezes of Lake Garda meet the fresh winds of the mountains, shaped by the farmers and characterized by the “marogne” (the famous dry-stone walls) and terracing.
You will meet noble wines. For example the Recioto, known since the 5th century AD according to the testimony of Cassiodorus, senator at the court of King Theodoric: “liquid or fleshy, edible drink … pure wine with royal color and special flavor; so you think that the purple is dyed by the wine itself, or that its clear mood is squeezed by purple … “. And then there is the Amarone. It is said, that this wine is due to a mistake of a cellarer 70 years ago (but there are some who think that it is much older). Today it is the best-selling Italian wine in the world.
